The Problem

About 80% of civil judgments are never collected

The reason is rarely that the debtor has nothing. It is that the creditor never found out what the debtor had, and enforcement without that information is guesswork. A writ served on the wrong bank returns nothing and tells the debtor you are looking.

A post-judgment asset search is the research step between winning and collecting. It converts a judgment into a list of specific, attachable targets: this bank, this employer, this parcel, this LLC. Where there is nothing worth pursuing, it tells you that too, before you spend more money finding out the hard way.

What “attachable” means

Not every asset a debtor owns can be reached. An asset is worth researching only if it is identifiable, reachable by a legal mechanism in that jurisdiction, and not fully exempt or already encumbered.

  • IdentifiableNamed institution, employer, parcel or entity
  • ReachableA writ, levy, lien or charging order applies
  • UnencumberedEquity remains after senior liens and exemptions

Fit

When this is worth doing

Worth researching

  • Judgment of $5,000 or more still unsatisfied
  • Debtor who has stopped responding entirely
  • Prior enforcement attempt that came back empty
  • Debtor who appears to be working or trading
  • Business debtor still operating
  • Judgment you are considering selling and want valued first

Probably not worth it

  • Debtor in an open bankruptcy with no non-exempt assets
  • Judgment already past its enforcement period and not renewed
  • Debtor deceased with no estate opened
  • Amounts where the research cost approaches the recovery

FAQ

Common questions

Yes, when conducted for a permissible purpose. A judgment creditor enforcing a judgment is a recognised permissible purpose under the FCRA and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. We work within those rules, which is also why some things you may have seen offered elsewhere cannot lawfully be delivered.

We identify institutions and account relationships. Anyone promising you a precise live balance for any debtor is describing something that is not lawfully obtainable, and using it would put your judgment at risk.

Most reports are delivered in 3 to 5 business days. Multi-state matters and business debtors with layered entities can take longer, and we tell you that at the quoting stage rather than after.

It depends on the debtor and how many states are involved. We quote a flat fee in writing before any research begins. There is no subscription and no card on file.

You get a report saying so, with what was checked and ruled out. That is a real result: it stops you spending further money on enforcement, and it is often what tells someone their judgment is better sold than pursued.

Never. Asset research is silent. The debtor has no indication that research has been run.

The report

Judgment Collectability & Asset Report $270

A bounded, debtor-specific research product covering one final judgment and one debtor — an individual or a business. You get a written picture of what that debtor appears to own and whether pursuing them is worth your time.

What the report covers

  • Public-record asset and collectability research
  • Identifiable real property
  • Business interests and affiliated entities
  • UCC filings and recorded liens
  • Relevant litigation and bankruptcy indicators
  • Known addresses and employment indicators where lawfully available
  • Written findings identifying potential collection targets for further investigation

What it does not do

  • No guaranteed bank-account discovery
  • No guaranteed recovery
  • No representation that every identified asset is legally reachable
  • No legal advice
  • No enforcement filing or attorney service included
  • Additional debtors or unusually complex investigations may require a separate quote

How it works

  1. Send the request below with your judgment and debtor details.
  2. We review it and confirm the scope with you — including whether your matter needs a separate quote.
  3. We send a Stripe invoice. Work begins once it is paid.
  4. Findings are typically delivered within three business days after payment and receipt of sufficient identifying information.

This is research, not legal advice, and it is not an enforcement or attorney service. Nothing here guarantees recovery.
